Delhi Government has issued a much needed circular on 02 May 2019. This circular mentions that now 27 hospitals in Delhi are authorized to issue disability certificates. Earlier only 10 hospitals were given the task of issuing such certificates to the disabled persons in Delhi. It should be noted that the RPWD Act 2016 lists 21 types of disabilities. Its predecessor, PWD Act 1995 recognized only seven types of disabilities.

After the enactment of RPWD Act 2016, a problem was faced because the then designated ten hospitals did not have required specialization to issue certificate for the newly listed disabilities.

Now this problem has been solved by authorizing 27 hospitals for the issuance of disability certificates in Delhi.
